Back by popular demand, Festivi-Tea is a green tea blend of sencha and bancha tea leaves with dried orange, cut almonds, cream caramel and walnut flavoring.
We created this tea last year to commemorate the annual holiday light show at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. Lights in Bloom is a sparkling tropical holiday celebration and beloved family tradition starting December 16th and running through Dec 23rd, and then Dec 26th and 27th.
Chinese sencha (translated as ‘Sen’ meaning green, and ‘cha’ meaning tea or ‘infused tea’) is normally a style of green tea produced in Japan but this is a perfect unison between Chinese leaf and Japanese style, very light, refreshing and uplifting.
Once the leaves are harvested they are heated in a wok to prevent oxidation giving the leaves a slightly mellower ‘roasted’ flavor and characteristic thin, cylindrical shape. (The tea has a less vegetal flavor than that produced in Japan)
Bancha, or the ‘common’ green tea in Japan, is harvested from the second flush of leaves in late summer or autumn. The larger leaf gives a very mellow flavor and contains less caffeine.
Cream caramel adds a touch of smooth and creamy with the orange and almond. The result is a sophisticated flavor perfect for a garden stroll during Selby's Lights in Bloom or your own holiday celebration.
20 to 25 cups of tea can be made from 2 oz of loose leaf tea.
BREWING INSTRUCTIONS - Steep this tea multiple times as loose leaf teas have far more flavor than traditional tea bags due to the superior quality and freshness. Tea strength is a personal decision, so please experiment to determine your preferences.
Use water between 180 and 190 degrees F, or allow boiling water to stand for 2 minutes. Steep your Royal-Tea Green Tea as little as 1 minutes, but not more than 4 minutes. For each of the following steeps use water of the same temperature and double the steep time. Royal-Tea Green Tea can be steeped at least 3 times and depending on the steep times, as many as 5 times. Also, consider blending the first steep with the following steeps to balance the tea. If you do not want to drink all the tea, store in fridge for wonderful iced tea.
Store in a dry place.
